Yep, you read that right, Ikea!
Recently we drove up to Florence/Firenze about 1-1/2 hours north. About halfway we remembered it was a Monday. Many things in Italy are closed on Monday and if not Monday, Tuesday, and of course Sunday and always from 1pm until 4, 5, 6’ or so. So we were a little nervous that strangely even Ikea could be closed on a Monday. I also forgot when we looked for Ikea to get the address and with the internet issue this was not going to be an easy fix. I was sure that it was near the airport and just as sure that it better be because my sweet husband probably would have a break down after I convinced him to drive all that way to a store he doesn’t particularly like to only find it closed and us lost.
Hooray, we found it and it was open. AND huge and packed! Of course it was, it’s the only thing open on a Monday during the lunch hour. So we parked our car in what I was sure was aisle H and headed in. I was giddy! I immediately started throwing in to our big yellow bag all that we needed to live in Italy for 7 months and make it seem like home. This included, but not limited to: bath gel, bath scrubs, a pair of slippers, a few candles, a tiny clock, a new bathmat, wooden slats for our antique bed, and some toys for the doggies! It also included a trip to the Ikea café. PACKED! We got an Italian salad, fries, and two sformatinas, but we skipped beer and wine to have ginger sodas. The meal was topped off as all good meals in Italy are with espresso/lungo.
After lunch all there was to do was pick up our big wooden slats, a new plant for our kitchen, and pay! Mission completed we headed out to aisle H and found that our car had been moved to F, who would have guessed?
Enjoy our shopping trip!

But do they still serve Swedish meatballs and lingonberries?
