Happy Anniversary Mt.St. Helens

Happy Anniversary Dear Mt. St. Helens! May 18, 1980-May 18, 2010

Not sure Annivesary is the correct word...How about happy 30 years since you blew your top?
Yes, that's it!  I like it's ring.  I wonder if I could ever get coverage on the news for blowing my top?  I guess probably not because with age I have mellowed.  Perhaps my volcano ways could even be considered extinct.

I'm not even sure why you fascinate me so...perhaps the plains of Kansas in which I grew led me to love the the power and excitement of the mountains.  Maybe the scientist in me just can't get enough of your science ways.  Or perhaps I feel at one with your firey spirit?

Readers here's some fun incase you want to spend some time amazed by her power. Here's some  Mt. St. Helens History  and a  360 view and a  live view

It seems like just yesterday (2004) I was watching daily when you started a  rumbling again. I was sure I was going to be in some kind of danger. A first hand witness to your power.  But it appeared to be just a little growing pain.   And now while you sleep, I am making plans.

Yes I am no Mother Nature, although I do work closely with her daily, I would still like for the following to happen.  On May 18, 2050 I would like to become one with the Mountain.  On the 70th anniversary of blowing her top I would like her to once again blow her top and take me with her.  Preferrably of course, without danger to others!  Not sure how this will work, but Mother Nature, Mt. St. Helens, and I have 40 years to plan.  How's that for my claim to fame?

For now I'll just say thanks Mt. St. Helens for keeping me on my toes!

  1. 2050? That seems so far off. The Mt is amazing though--when looking at it from downtown I always expect it to blow for some reason, or at least to let off a little smoke to remind us it's always there.
